Hillary Clinton mocks Donald Trump over his '3-0' travel ban defeat

Trump was quick off the mark when he tweeted his reaction to the federal appeals court refusing to reinstate his travel ban, but his former rival Hillary Clinton was not far behind.

The panel of three judges from the San Francisco-based 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals declined to block a lower-court ruling that suspended the ban and allowed previously barred travellers from seven predominantly Muslim nations to enter the US.

Moments after the court's ruling, President Trump shouted on Twitter:  "SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!"

The tweet provoked a frenzied response on social media, with users mocking his statement and use of Twitter.

The former Democratic presidential candidate was succinct in her reply, choosing not to use caps, or indeed letters. "3-0," she tweeted,  an apparent reference the 3-0 vote by the court.

Mrs Clinton's response split opinion on Twitter. While some praised her, others pointed to her two presidential campaign defeats. 

 Other social media users weighed in on Mr Trump's response, especially his use of capital letters:

The president's vow to "see you in court" after losing a court case also proved as talking point, with the American Civil Liberties Union quick to say they'd be happy to see him there.

Trump has suggested he will appeal the case to the Supreme Court.
