Mega mansion with sale hopes of more than $18 million

A NEW contender for Brighton’s record property price has hit the market.

Few properties can measure up to the four-storey mega-mansion - previously owned by former St Kilda Football Club president Rod Butterss - at 39 Seacombe Grove.

It is expected to sell for more than $18 million, which would beat the suburb’s present top price set by the sale of 12 Moule Ave last year.

The house spans about 2000sq m, including a 12-car garage and multiple balconies.

It’s right by the beach, but who needs that when you’ve got your own heated swimming pool and spa? The basement has a billiard room, cinema, gym and wine cellar with lounge area.

Its position gives the home 180-degree views across Port Phillip Bay, shown through the wide windows and bi-fold glass doors that line the rear rooms.

Kay & Burton Bayside director Ian Jackson said the current owners had spent about $4-$6 million renovating the trophy home, which they bought for $11 million about eight years ago.

It was previously owned by former St Kilda Football Club president Rod Butterss.

They claimed the addition of an attic level breached the area’s two-storey height restrictions.

The dispute landed in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, where Butterss was ordered to extend the mansion roof to conceal two air-conditioning units.
